I’m fascinated by this process of establishing order through the creation of (imagined) boundaries between people and things. What are these borders made of? What if they were in a different place? What (who) exists at the margins of categories?
In my work I explore social separations, the overlap between them, and especially the space in between. I like to work spatially and use physical borders in space as a metaphor for abstract social divisions.
When I say I, I mean we. The boundaries between me and others are always open, or at least porous and unstable.
Without the other it doesn’t work, fortunately.
